Heritage background, architectural provenance & visitor guide
The Sir Walter Scott Memorial Tower
Built in 1871 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Sir Walter Scott, Corstorphine Hill Tower (also known as Clermiston Tower) crowns the wooded crest of Corstorphine Hill Nature Reserve. Standing 520 feet above sea level, the tower offers one of the most comprehensive panoramas in Scotland.
Surrounded by peaceful woodland trails, rocky outcrops, and wildlife habitats where green woodpeckers and roe deer roam, it is a serene western viewpoint looking across to the Pentland Hills, the Forth Bridges, and the Fife coastline.
